King, a former mayor of Kemah and a likely candidate for mayor of Houston, has served on the Governor's Task Force on Evacuation and a local task force to study hurricane preparedness. He has served on the Greater Houston Partnership's Transportation & Infrastructure Committee and the Houston-Galveston Area Council's Transportation Policy Council.
The topic of King's address was "Transportation: Infrastructure & Mobility".
"There are a lot of us who believe that congestion is actually getting worse faster outside the peak periods and that the peak periods are getting longer," King said referring to a study of congestion.

King recommended that the BAHEP members take a proactive approach to encourage transportation improvement.
"Send a clear signal to our elected officials that relieving traffic congestion is our priority," King said, urging the elected officials to "make investments that have the highest cost-benefit ratio for reducing congestion."
The event was sponsored by Madison Benefits Group, Inc.
