MyFoxHouston - Bill King is a former mayor of Kemah who has been called by Governor Rick Perry several times to help study the impacts of hurricanes and tropical storms on the Houston and Galveston area.

King has served on the Commission for Disaster Recovery and Renewal, which looked at the recovery efforts after Hurricane Ike. The Ike Dike was a proposal brought to this commission and a project that many are taking seriously.

King's research includes a visit to the Netherlands to see a levee system that works similar to the proposed barrier that would protect the Texas gulf coast.
